CNN’s Brian Stelter ignores bomb development in Cuomo nursing home scandal

CNN’s internal media knowledge Brian Stelter continued to protect the defeated government in New York Andrew Cuomo over the weekend and ignored the latest bomb on the Democratic governor’s growing nursing home scandal during his “Reliable Sources” program on Sunday.

A top Cuomo official told leading state Democratic lawmakers that the administration had withheld data COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes to avoid federal control, according to a curse New York Post report released last week.

CUOMO AIDE PROVIDES NEW DEMOCRATS ADMINISTRATION HID NURSING HOME DATA TO KEEP IT FROM TRUMP DOJ: REPORT

The revelation led to condemnation and even indictment in Albany, the state capital. Rep. Lee Zeldin, RN.Y., called on the Department of Justice to launch an obstruction of justice investigation – but the CNN anchor did not consider it worth mentioning in his show recently.

A search of transcripts revealed that the words “nursing home” and “Andrew Cuomo” were not uttered once Sunday during 11 a.m. on CNN. MSNBC’s Sunday programs also seemed to ignore the scandal that was unfolding and instead postponed the broadcast to the wake of former President Donald Trump’s trial and acquittal.

Both networks surprised the New York Democrat with glowing praise early on for his handling of the pandemic and largely ignored his nursing home directive to accept patients who had or were suspected of having COVID-19. The decision created an attack on COVID-19 cases that infected thousands of elderly patients and resulted in thousands of deaths among the state’s most vulnerable population.

Cuomo eventually turned the course – but not before the state’s death toll reached alarming numbers in nursing home facilities.

CNN’s Brian Stelter urged supporters to click on the link in his tweet before criticizing his theory of President Trump.

The governor’s younger brother Chris Cuomo was widely ridiculed for avoiding tough questions about the nursing home scandal early in the pandemic. The CNN anchor finally mentioned the controversy to his brother after ignoring it during at least 10 air interviews, but Cuomo quickly pointed out how there was nursing death toll “across the country” and said “we need to figure out how to do it better next time “before the next virus wave occurs.

NEW YORK GOV. CUOMO’S LITTLE BROTHER SILENT ON NURSING HOME SCANDAL

Recent developments triggered outrage last week, then Post reported that Melissa DeRosa, secretary to the governor, told leading Empire State Democrats during a videoconference call that the administration erroneously presented the true number of deaths to DOJ investigators for fear the data could be “used against us.”

DOJ began investigating nursing home coronavirus deaths in four states in August – New York among them.

“We were in a position where we were not sure whether what we would give to the Ministry of Justice, or what we give you, what we are beginning to say should be used against us, while we were not sure whether there should be an investigation, ”DeRosa told lawmakers, according to the Post report.

Cuomo refused for several months to release data on how the pandemic has hit nursing homes, instead of pointing to numbers that are more favorable to his administration.

In recent weeks, a court order and a state attorney general’s report have forced the state to acknowledge that the number of deaths in nursing homes is nearly 15,000, as it previously reported 8,500 – a figure that excludes residents who died after being taken to hospitals. The new toll is approx. one-seventh of the people living in nursing homes as of 2019 in New York.

Fox News’ Brian Flood and Bradford Betz contributed to this report.
