US stock futures gained on Tuesday, suggesting that the major indices will continue a rally that helped them breach of record heights at the end of last week.
Futures on the S&P 500 increased by 0.5% and contracts on the Dow Jones Industrial Average strengthened by 0.6%. Changes in stock futures do not necessarily predict movements after the markets open.
U.S. markets closed Monday for the president’s day off.
Yields on 10-year US government bonds rose to 1,229% from 1,199% on Friday. Dividends and prices are moving in opposite directions.
Abroad, European stocks rose Tuesday for one four-day winning streak. The pan-continental Stoxx Europe 600 added 0.2% and the UK FTSE 100 rose 0.6%.
