Iowa’s 14-day COVID-19 positivity rate drops below 8%

The Iowa Department of Public Health on Monday reported 206 new positive COVID-19 cases and one more death. The health department at 10 reported 329,304 positive cases in total, 302,160 total cures and 5,237 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. The Department of Health reports that 1,514,922 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19, while 3,844,755 tests have been administered. Only Adair County reports a 14-day average higher than 15%. This county now reports a rate of 24.4%. No other county reports an average of over 13.4%. COVID-19 admissions increased slightly overnight. There are now 242 people hospitalized with the virus, up from 240 a day earlier. There are 57 patients on the ICU and 28 patients in ventilators. Twenty-five of Iowa’s long-term care facilities report virus outbreaks. The state reports 948 positive cases and 630 recoveries among residents and staff within these facilities. 2,132 deaths have been reported in Iowa care facilities.
