Three New Zealanders, including a woman who is reportedly a member of Islamic state, has been captured in an attempt to enter Turkey illegally from Syria, according to Turkish authorities.
That New Zealand Nationals were captured by border guards in the Reyhanli district of southern Hatay province, which borders war-torn Syria, Turkey’s defense ministry said in its official Twitter account.
“Three New Zealand nationals trying to enter our country illegally from Syria was captured by our border guards, ”it said.
A 26-year-old woman named ‘SA’ “was identified as a DAESH (Islamic State) terrorist wanted with a ‘blue message’,” the tweet said.
An Interpol Blue Message is issued to collect additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities related to a crime.
New Zealand’s State Department confirmed it was aware of the problem but offered no further details on the matter.
