US markets closed; gold price under pressure

Although US markets are closed today for President’s Day, markets are still trading electronically until 1 p.m. 1:00 EST. Trends have not changed, with stocks reaching new heights again; crude oil explodes higher and bonds are crushed.

Gold remains under pressure and is further separated from silver. Platinum remains in its own trading world, now trading above $ 1,300, a high of 7 years. Trends are clear: gold in a downward trend and in danger of collapsing, while silver and platinum remain in an upward trend.

So far, the critical level is to see $ 1,800 April gold; a close down would bring $ 1,750 and $ 1,700 into play. If silver can get over $ 30, it could go out to the race, and the $ 1,400 April platinum is huge. We will stay with the trend and watch as the ratio of gold to silver continues to decline; pr. today it is 65.

There is a much bigger story beneath the surface of the bond and gold markets. While the geniuses of the Fed continue to tell us that there is no inflation, bonds disagree. There is no doubt that inflation is far above the Fed’s outdated way of tracking. Bonds demand inflation, while gold does not. Which will be right?
